Symptoms of Candida (You Might Not Know About)

Updated: Mar 28, 2023

Find out if you are suffering from Candida overgrowth.

Do you crave sweets?

Do your muscles ache all the time, even when you're not exercising?

Are you unable to lose weight no matter how hard you try?

Do you get headaches that are so bad they ruin your day and make it hard to focus on anything else?

If so, you may be suffering from candida overgrowth, and it's time to take action.

Candida is a yeast fungus that normally exists in small amounts in your mouth and intestines. In the right amounts, it helps your body function correctly; however, when there's too much of it, it can cause significant health problems for both men and women.

Among the symptoms of candida overgrowth are:

  • Gastrointestinal distress / digestive problems

  • Cognitive impairment

  • Dermatologic signs (rash, whiteheads, eczema)

  • UTI's

  • Yeast infections

But here is a big one and so often overlooked: autoimmune diseases such as:

  • Ulcerative colitis

  • Lupus

  • Psoriasis

  • Multiple sclerosis

  • Hashimoto’s thyroiditis

  • Rheumatoid arthritis

  • Scleroderma

3 Other tell tale Signs Candida is trying to move in:

Your Tongue

White coat on the tongue, redness or discomfort in the mouth, sore throat, difficulty swallowing or cracking at the corners of the mouth are all signs candida is taking over.

Cravings

The majority of us Candida is related to high sugar cravings, but did you know craving carbohydrates is another telltale sign candida is trying to move in for the long hall? Watch out for these signs.

Mood

A huge fluctuation or sudden onset of anxiety, depression, irritability or mood swings. Not a lot of people realize that it can be the candida starting to take over that leads to mood instability.

I am here to tell you to raise the flag!

What do I do now?

For those of you who have been dealing with candida for a while, you know how it can take over your life. It's not just the horrible symptoms that come along with it—it's the fact that it makes you feel like your body is failing you. And that's just not right.

If you suspect that you have any one of these symptoms or more, you might head directly to your general practitioner. While they mean well, they are likely going to give your antibiotics, tell you to insert toxic creams and pills up your (who-ha), prescribe some harsh medications that causes dry mouth and sore bones (or worse), but never mention anything about what is actually feeding the candida.

Your DIET!

The only thing those "solutions" will give you is temporary relief. Candida is sure to return without changing anything about your diet. #sorrynotsorry.

My suggestion:

Reach out to a Naturopath or a Registered Holistic Nutritionist (Like Sara Lodge Nutrition or both) to get a customized protocol for breaking up with candida once and for all. Natural supplementation & diet changes are far more successful.

If you are a lover of sweets, then this isn't going to be easy for you—so unless you are ready to do so, then you will just continue to have regrowth after regrowth. So be ready!

The good news though, I have excellent recipes that suffice the sweet cravings but don't cause a feeding frenzy for the bugs! Winning!
