You're probably wondering how I can tell you that you're not putting your health as a priority.
I'll admit it's not an easy thing to do, especially when you've been ignoring your symptoms for so long.
When you look at this list of obstacles and realize that they are standing in the way of your health, it becomes clear: you are not prioritizing yourself.
Here are some of the mental roadblocks or negative self talk that can sabotage your ability to ask for help with your gut health symptoms..
Obstacle #1 - You think you don’t have any gut issues
That's right. I said it. The vast majority of people do not think they have any gut issues because they don't get bloated or have constipation. In reality they suffer from acne, eczema, thinning hair, excessive belching, excessive coughing (for no apparent reason) and frequent diarrhea. The list could go on for days and people will still deny it's their poor gut health. Don't be that person.
Obstacle #2 - You have lived with the gas, bloating and discomfort for so long it’s normal to you
This is a very common occurrence. A sad one I might add. Often when gut issues start to arise most will fluff it off to something they ate and move on. Moving on means ignoring your gut health symptoms until they become serious. Until disease sets in. Much harder to reverse but not impossible. Please do not just "live with" poor gut health. Prevention is the best medicine.

Obstacle #3 - You have talked to your GP and they say everything is fine (so you believe him) even though you are still in discomfort
We all know by now your doctor listens to your health history for about 5 mins, asks nothing about your diet, lifestyle or stress levels and then sends you out the door with a lame diagnosis or a pill.
Being offered no solution to your ongoing issues is a problem that you should not sit with.
Did you know when you see a Nutritionist we spend over an hour going over your eating habits, lifestyle, sleeping patterns, symptoms and deep dive into your day with a fine tooth comb sp that when we make a protocol for you, it provides a solution to all of your needs.
Obstacle #4 - Your benefits won’t cover a Nutritionist
Well friends, I won't sugar coat this. If your benefits won't cover the services, you have just decided you won't get the help you need. Too expensive. Reality: it just means your health is not your priority. If you can do 2-3 take out meals a month and a few Starbucks Grande Caramel Macchiato's, then you certainly have enough to see a Nutritionist for your health concerns. Priorities please. (Mic Drop)
Obstacle #5 - You struggle to commit to anything related to your health
And that's okay—we all have our own challenges and limitations that make us who we are. Even if you don't recognize them, they're there. You just have to be willing to see your struggles and accept them, because once you do, then you can start working on improving them.
Obstacle #6 - You are just hoping it will go away by making no changes
Hey, It's not about blame or guilt—it's about understanding that no one else will take care of you like you can take care of yourself, and then committing to that self-care without hesitation or reservation. If you continue to ignore your body, not listen to it's cue, it will eventually decide for you and I guarantee you won't like the outcome.

So what's next?
The question then becomes what are you going to do about it?
If you're going to make this the year you finally take control of your health and well-being, the first step is knowing when you need to make that change.
If these obstacles resonate with you, consider them a friendly reminder to start taking better care of yourself.
